Make Mulch Not Smoke

For Santa Ynez Valley property owners with Residential Dry Vegetation (Backyard) Burn permits, the Santa Barbara County Fire Department will chip your vegetation for no additional charge beyond your permit fee. Wood chips will be left on site and can be used as mulch to further reduce fire danger. Visit the Santa Barbara County Fire Department Chipping webpage for more information.
